NPR is often an inspiration to me in the morning and this morning was no exception. WAMU did a story about how there are a few hundred people in DC who are 100 years old or older.
Forty or so of those centenarians will be attending a luncheon in their honor today, and that made me wonder what condition their teeth are in. I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that they have better teeth than many of their younger friends. I say that because you don’t get to be a hundred by being unhealthy, and one of the keys to good health is a healthy mouth.
Who knows, maybe they all have dentures. This is just speculation on my part. Maybe next year at the centenarian’s luncheon I’ll take a pole and see.
It’s certainly something for older folks to think about. I mean you can’t count on dying before you are a hundred. Longevity like that could be a blessing or a curse. How are your teeth? Do you think they will still be in good shape when you are a hundred?
