The British Medical Journal is reporting that, “infants exposed to secondhand smoke at 4-months-old seem more likely to develop caries by 3 years of age” http://www.ada.org/en/science-research/science-in-the-news/secondhand-smoke-and-caries.
However, since, “factors such as economic and other disparities among the population studied were not included in the model” who knows what the real culprit is here. Maybe people who smoke also have a lot of candy around the house? It seems to me that smoking is a sign of lack of concern for health, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they have a lot of other unhealthy things going on at home.
As always the message is the same from me. Don’t smoke, ever. And if you have any dental needs give us a call 703-532-1712 FallsChurchSmiles.com
