Psychoactive Toothpaste

Yep, that’s right, psychoactive toothpaste. You can check out Power Toothpaste at What makes it psychoactive? Caffeine!

power toothpasteThe thing I found more interesting than caffeinated toothpaste was the Wiki entry on caffeine. “Caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant of the methylxanthine class. It is the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive drug I didn’t realize caffeine qualified as a psychoactive drug.

When I think of the term psychoactive I envision old Dragnet reruns and Joe Friday giving one of his soap box speeches about narcotic drug abuse. So I needed a definition for psychoactive drug which I also got from Wiki. “A psychoactive drug, psychopharmaceutical, or psychotropic is a chemical substance that changes brain function and results in alterations in perceptionmood, or consciousness

Caffeine certainly fits that definition for me!

So anyway, if you want caffeine in your toothpaste that’s an option, but since I can’t tell if Power Toothpaste contains fluoride I can’t recommend it. It might be best to stick with a fluoridated tooth paste and have a cup of coffee or tea. And if you need a good dentist give us a call.
