Yep, that’s right, psychoactive toothpaste. You can check out Power Toothpaste at http://www.powertoothpaste.com. What makes it psychoactive? Caffeine!
The thing I found more interesting than caffeinated toothpaste was the Wiki entry on caffeine. “Caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant of the methylxanthine class. It is the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive drug” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine. I didn’t realize caffeine qualified as a psychoactive drug.
When I think of the term psychoactive I envision old Dragnet reruns and Joe Friday giving one of his soap box speeches about narcotic drug abuse. So I needed a definition for psychoactive drug – “A psychoactive drug, psychopharmaceutical, or psychotropic is a chemical substance that changes brain function and results in alterations in perception, mood, or consciousness” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoactive_drug. Caffeine certainly fits that definition for me!
So anyway, if you want caffeine in your toothpaste that’s an option, but since I can’t tell if Power Toothpaste contains fluoride I can’t recommend it. It might be best to stick with a fluoridated tooth paste and have a cup of coffee or tea. And if you need a good dentist give us a call 703-532-1712 FallsChurchSmiles.com
